Why Eatontown patients choose Seaview Dental for gum grafting
- Stops recession from progressing. Protects the roots underneath before more damage occurs.
- Comfort-first approach. Local anesthesia throughout, with clear aftercare guidance.
- Addresses the cause too. We discuss what is driving your recession, not just treat the result.

Stages of gum recession
Mild recession involves slight root exposure, often noticed as minor sensitivity to cold or a slightly longer-looking tooth, and can sometimes be managed by addressing the cause, such as adjusting brushing technique, without a graft. Moderate recession shows more visible root exposure and noticeable sensitivity, and is where grafting is most commonly recommended, both to protect the root from further wear and to halt progression before bone loss accelerates.
Severe recession involves significant root exposure, visible changes to the gumline across multiple teeth, and often accompanying bone loss, at this stage grafting becomes more important to prevent eventual tooth loss, and treatment may need to be more extensive. Catching recession at the mild or moderate stage generally means a simpler, more predictable graft.
